Gay Witchcraft Tradition
Temenos Eromenos is a Grove of the Minoan Brotherhood in the Netherlands, an initiatory witchcraft tradition for men who love men exploring magic, brotherhood and sacred Eros, welcoming seekers from across Europe.
Who are we?
Temenos Eromenos is a Grove (coven) of the Minoan Brotherhood, an initiatory tradition created for men who love men, based in the Netherlands. Within our Grove, members explore spirituality, magic, brotherhood, and personal transformation through a path that honours both the natural world and the mysteries of divine love.
The Minoan Brotherhood is an initiatory mystery tradition of Witchcraft rooted in British Traditional Witchcraft, particularly Gardnerian Wicca. It was founded in the 1970s by Edmund “Eddie” Buczynski, who envisioned a spiritual path in which homosexuality would be recognized and celebrated as sacred.
Inspired by the mythology, art, and spirituality of Bronze Age Crete and the ancient Aegean world, the tradition draws on symbols such as the Labyrinth, the Bull, the Great Goddess, and the Starry Mysteries of the Gods. These ancient themes are re-imagined within a modern magical tradition that celebrates male love, devotion, and spiritual ascendance.
Within the Minoan Brotherhood, practitioners honour both the Great Mother and Her Divine Son, the Star-born God of the Mysteries, whose myth reflects cycles of desire, union and sacred transformation. Through ritual, meditation, study, and magical practice, initiates deepen their relationship with the Gods, with nature, and with one another.
The path of the Minoan Brotherhood is not about escaping the world. Instead, it invites us to discover the sacred within ourselves, within each other, and within the mysteries of Eros. It is a spiritual path where erotic spirituality, magic, and brotherhood are embraced as sources of wisdom and transformation.
At the heart of this tradition stand three guiding principles: Healing, Magic, and Celebration. Together they form a living spiritual practice that honours nature, the Gods, and homosexual love.
What do we do?
The name Temenos Eromenos means “Sacred Space of the Beloved.”

In ancient Greece, a temenos was a place set apart for the Gods; a sanctuary where the ordinary world fades and the presence of the sacred begins. It was a protected and consecrated space where human beings could encounter the Divine.
Within that sacred space stands the Eromenos, the beloved, the one who is loved, desired, and spiritually awakened. In the context of the Minoan Brotherhood, this symbol speaks to the sacred encounter between human love and divine mystery. It reminds us that love between men can itself become a gateway to spiritual insight, devotion, and transformation.
Temenos Eromenos therefore represents a sacred meeting place: a spiritual sanctuary where brotherhood, love, and the mysteries of the Gods can be explored openly and respectfully.
Our purpose
Temenos Eromenos exists to provide a deeper magical and initiatory path for men who love men.
Many of us grow up in cultures where our love is questioned, misunderstood, or treated as something to hide. The Minoan Brotherhood offers another perspective; one rooted in reverence, dignity, and sacred celebration.
Within this tradition, love between men is not a problem to be solved, but a mystery to be honoured. It is understood as a reflection of divine creativity and connection. Through ritual, meditation, magical practice, and fellowship, members of the Grove explore the deeper dimensions of spiritual life together.
Our work includes exploring:
• The sacred nature of love between men
• The mysteries of desire, devotion, and transformation
• The spiritual power of brotherhood and initiatory community
• The cycles of nature, the Moon, and the turning of the seasons
• The path of the Witch-Priest and Sacred Lover
A Living Magical Tradition
The spiritual work of Temenos Eromenos draws inspiration from several sources that together shape the Minoan Brotherhood tradition.
These include:
• British Traditional Witchcraft, especially the initiatory structure of Gardnerian Wicca
• Mediterranean mythology, particularly the myths and symbolism of Bronze Age Crete and the Aegean world
• Ancient mystery traditions, where initiation and sacred experience played a central role
• Modern magical practice, adapted for contemporary seekers
Through this combination, the tradition connects ancient symbolism with modern spiritual experience. The result is a path that is ancient in spirit yet fully alive in the present; a living mystery tradition where magic, brotherhood, devotion, and the sacred power of love continue to unfold.
